 United Faculty of Florida-Seminole Chapter

Contract and Bargaining

Bargaining continues on the first collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the United Faculty of Florida - Seminole State College Chapter (UFF-Seminole) and the Seminole State College (SSC). Copies of proposals from both sides will appear on this page as soon as possible after they have been made public at the bargaining table. A synopsis of the proceedings will also appear below.

Tentative Agreements (TAs) are just that - tentative. Once both sides agree on a particular article or section of the CBA they sign the final language for that section and it becomes part of the eventual CBA. However, they are tentative in that they have no affect until agreement is reached on the entire CBA. Once all TAs are completed, and a final CBA is compiled, both the faculty and the Board of Trustees must vote to ratify the final agreement. The CBA becomes official upon ratification by both sides.

The UFF-Seminole bargaining team includes Professor of Economics Frank Albritton, Professor of Mathematics Sue Kellicut, Professor of Political Science Michael Hoover and Professor/Program Manager of Business Administration George Bernard. All are faculty members on the UFF-Seminole Executive Council and are guided by a larger bargaining committee comprised of representatives from across all campuses and many disciplines. The lead negotiator, Michael Moats, is a Service Unit Director with the United Faculty of Florida who has also negotiated contracts at Brevard and Hillsborough Community Colleges and assisted/consulted at Florida State College Jacksonville, Broward College, University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, and New College of Florida.

The Administration's collective bargaining team includes Lead Negotiator Mr. Grogan, VP of CTS Dick Hamann, Director of Human Resources Claudia Salvano, Director of Risk Management and Legal Affairs Tom Ohern and campus Provost (Oviedo) Lisa Valentino.

All faculty are encouraged to make their concerns known to the UFF-Seminole bargaining team, committee, and/or chapter leadership so they may represent your interests in the best way possible.
